Unfortunately, bills do not stop accumulating as a result of a loved one passing away. The amount of time it takes an insurance company to pay out on a life insurance claim can vary significantly. Factors depend on how quickly you can provide the insurance company with documentation, how long the insurance policy has been in effect, and whether there are any questions about the cause of death.       In the best-case scenario, when you provide the death certificate documentation and there are no delays, you may receive the benefits cheque in as little as two weeks. In a worst-case scenario the process could drag on for several months or more. A key factor in the duration of this claims assessment process is the efficiency of the insurance company’s claims processing department.
